East of I-35 — Siena, Paloma Lake and the neighborhoods around them.
Troops Mowing proudly serves Round Rock, TX, where the soil is alkaline clay over limestone, the grass is mostly Bermuda (with St. Augustine lawns in the mix), and the doughnuts are non-negotiable. If you’ve grabbed a dozen from Round Rock Donuts, there’s a good chance we’ve mowed a lawn or two nearby — especially around Siena and Paloma Lake. Co-owner Sam lives in Round Rock with his family.
We service Round Rock east of I-35, which keeps our routes tight and our crews on schedule. Round Rock has recognized us as Best of Round Rock in 2022 and 2024, and Round Rock customers pay the same per-visit pricing as everyone else on our routes: mowing from $45, weed & feed from $69 an application, pet waste removal $20 a week.
Same story as the rest of eastern Williamson County: heavy clay that holds a storm and then cracks in a dry spell, over a limestone base that keeps the pH high. It rewards a managed weed & feed program — pre-emergent down before soil warms, fertilizer timed to the rain — and punishes the spring bag of weed-and-feed applied whenever.
St. Augustine lawns in Round Rock show yellow, crispy patches in summer that are often mistaken for drought. A lot of the time it’s chinch bugs. We flag it when we see it on a mowing visit instead of letting a homeowner water a bug problem for a month.
Siena and Paloma Lake are newer, east-of-35 neighborhoods with fixed HOA expectations for the lawn and the beds. That’s exactly the kind of yard a scheduled weekly or bi-weekly route and a bed-maintenance crew are built for.
Every July and August, watering restrictions and dry spells put Round Rock lawns through the wringer with heat stress. We help yours hold formation: sharp blades, a sensible cut height, and no scalping a lawn that’s already hurting.
From December through February your Bermuda clocks out for dormancy. We do not. Winter weeds like burweed and poa annua fill the gaps in dormant turf, and our Troops gear up for bush trimming, weed removal, leaf cleanups and winter prep — plus paver walkways, which we only install in these cool months.

Troops mowing has been absolutely amazing for the past 2 and a half years. The service has been impeccable plus I am ALWAYS proud to support a fellow Veteran! I have and always will recommend their services to anybody I know!
This is an update to my previous 3 star review. Dylan reached out and apologized and wanted to know how to make things right. Today he came out and spread the compost I ordered over my front yard and also some cedar mulch that I wanted on top of that. I am very happy/satisfied with his wanting to makes things right and making it happen. I have changed my review to 5 stars. Dylan and the two young guys that came out and did my yard are very pleasant and professional. How to do yard was talked about in great detail - the what to do and the what not to do. There seems to have been no communication. The guys were to take away a bunch of the leaves but not all so that the remaining leaves could be mowed at the highest level so that the leaves could be "mulched" and stay in my yard. They were unaware that they were to leave enough leaves to mow over so I would act as mulch. We specifically talked about me not wanting my yard to be all dirt after they mowed. That they should use the highest setting to mow. The website says that the 1st mowing of grass should not be more than one third of the height. Instead the setting was at the lowest possible leaving very short sparse grass and my front yard looks like a lot of dirt. I'm having to have a whole lot of compost delivered so it can be spread over my front yard. Then the monkey grass liriope that has lilac blooms that were around one of the trees was all mowed down to the ground. This cost me a lot of money. I told Dylan I didn't mind the price if the work was done as it should be. Was sad about this because they all seem so great, so nice, so professional. Am needing my back yard done now. Will see if they will come out and will hope there is better communication.
Troops has been taking care of our yard for many years, and i have nothing but positive things to say. They’ve completed several different jobs outside of regular maintenance and everything always turns out great. Kyren is always a pleasure to work with, and the entire crew is fantastic.
