Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions Hutto homeowners ask most.

What services does Troops Mowing provide?
Lawn mowing (weekly or bi-weekly), fertilizer & weed control (an 8-application program), weekly pet waste removal, landscaping (flower bed cleanups, mulch, bed edging and winter paver walkway installs), and one-time property cleanups (leaf removal, debris hauling, bush trimming). We serve Hutto, Round Rock, Georgetown and Pflugerville, TX.
What types of grass do you specialize in?
Bermuda, St. Augustine and Zoysia — the three grasses growing in nearly every yard we service. Bermuda is durable and thrives in high heat and foot traffic; St. Augustine gives a dense, vibrant turf and handles a little shade; Zoysia is dense and drought-tolerant. Our team is trained on the care each one needs, plus the plants commonly found in Central Texas beds.
How long have you been in business?
Troops Mowing has been serving Hutto and the surrounding communities since September 2020, and was officially incorporated in December 2020. It’s veteran-owned and family-owned — co-owners Sam and Dylan are brothers-in-law.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Troops Mowing is fully licensed and insured, including for fertilizer and weed control applications. Every treatment on your lawn is applied by a properly licensed team, not subcontracted out. Being licensed for weed control means we’re trained on product selection, application rates and timing, so your lawn is treated correctly and safely.
Do I have to sign a contract?
No residential contracts — ever. If you don’t need your lawn cut in December, why keep paying? Want to stop? Just call. The only ask: we require two consecutive services before canceling completely; canceling before your second visit carries a $50 fee.
How do you determine the cost of your services?
Lawn mowing is priced on your yard’s total serviceable square footage, so you get an accurate, competitive price for the area we actually maintain. Flower bed cleanups and other project work are priced on the time required and the materials needed. We’re happy to walk through your specific needs and give you a detailed estimate.
What is your estimating process?
For mowing, we measure your property on Google Maps and promptly send an estimate by email and text. For flower bed cleanups and other project work, we prefer an on-site estimate so we can see the size of the job and the materials needed, then send the detailed estimate by email and text. Once you approve, we schedule the services, send a booking confirmation, and securely save a card on file for hassle-free payment.
Do I need to be home? How should I prepare?
You don’t need to be home. We ask three things: secure pets indoors during the visit, leave the back gate unlocked on your service day, and pick up loose debris or clutter from the lawn so the crew can work efficiently.
What is the Double Money Back Guarantee?
If you’re not satisfied with our service, call us and we come back and fix the deficiency — no questions asked. If you’re still not completely satisfied, we pay a competitor to come out and fix it for you. That’s our promise.
What if I call and nobody answers?
Nothing is more disappointing than not getting a call back. If we miss your call, our commitment is to return your call, email or text within one hour.
Will you close my gate?
Every time — guaranteed. Coming home to a freshly cut lawn and a wide-open gate with the dogs missing is a stress nobody needs. We make sure your gates are secured before we leave.
How do you accept payment?
Company policy is a card on file for every customer, set up through a secure link we email you when your estimate is approved. After each service we charge the agreed amount and send a receipt. No checks under the mat, no cash to leave out.
What is your rescheduling and cancellation policy?
To skip a single visit, we need written notice no later than the day before. Canceling on the day of a scheduled visit is a $25 fee. Weather, holidays or route adjustments occasionally mean we service your property the day before or after your assigned date. Full details are on our Terms of Service page.
Do you serve my part of Georgetown, Round Rock or Pflugerville?
We service all of Hutto. In Georgetown, we work east of Ronald Reagan Blvd, west of SH-130, south of Lake Georgetown and north of Westinghouse Road. In Round Rock, east of I-35. In Pflugerville, east of I-35 and north of East Howard Lane. Enter your address in the instant quote and we’ll confirm.
